Early Life

Kevin Harvick was born on December 8, 1975, in Bakersfield, California, to Jonell and Mike Harvick. ‘Amber,’ his younger sister, and ‘Clayton,’ his older brother, are his siblings. In 1980, Harvick’s father gave him a go-kart when he was in kindergarten. He won seven national titles and two Grand National championships during the next decade. In the year 1992, he competed in the NASCAR Feather lite Southwest Series while still in high school. His father built him his first car with the money he earned from running his shop and competing in NASCAR’s lower series. His father used the money he made from running his garage to build him his first car, which he raced in the lower NASCAR series. Harvick graduated from North High School. Kevin Harvick made his Craftsman Truck Series debut in the No. 72 car owned by his family, finishing 27th overall. With the No. 75 for Spear Motorsports, he improved quickly and began finishing ahead of schedule. Harvick was promoted to the NASCAR Grand National Division’s AutoZone West Series in 1997.
